NOGALES HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR ADVANCES TO DISTRICT STUDENT SPEAKERS CONTEST

 Nogales High School senior Carmina Del Mundo (center) won the Central Region Student Speakers Contest held April 5th, to advance to the District contest, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday April 26, at Goddard Middle School, 859 E. Sierra Madre Ave., Glendora.  Also pictured at the March 5th Club contest are, L to R, Lion Walt Doctor, club contest moderator; club-level contestants Jorge Amar of Nogales High School, Eric Kung of Rowland High School; and Lion Mary Ellen Eldredge, Industry Lions Club Student Speakers chairman.
 
 
 

WALMART MANAGER INSTALLED AS NEWEST LION

Guest speaker Joel Torrez (left), a field representative for Sen. Gloria Romero, presents a commendation to Rudy Romero, assistant manager of the City of Industry Walmart store, at a Jan. 17 installation luncheon. At right is his club sponsor, Lion Tim Seal. Walmart has been a major sponsor of the City of Industry Lions Club's charitable fundraisers, which support a variety of community programs. Rudy is the club's fourth new member in the past seven months. Several prospective new members were on hand for the luncheon.

Lions International President Mahendra Amarasuriya was in southern California to participate in New Year's festivities in Pasadena, including the annual New Year's Eve breakfast hosted by the Pasadena Host Lions Club; a reception hosted by the Doubletree hotel in Rosemead; and the Tournament of Roses Parade. FIRE INSPECTOR ADDRESSES EVENING CLUB

L.A. County Fire Dept. Insp. Rick Dominguez receives certificate of appreciation from Industry Lions Club President David Rutherford for his Dec. 13 presentation on the various programs of Fire Station 118, located on Gale Avenue west of Azusa Avenue. Dominguez proposed a number of community service partnerships with the club.

INDUSTRY LIONS LAUD WALMART FOR RODEO DONATION

Trisha Romero of Walmart receives a Certificate of Appreciation from City of Industry Lions Club President David Rutherford at a business meeting held Thursday, Nov. 1 at Marie Callender's Puene Hills. The City of Industry Walmart store, located on Gale and Azusa avenues, was recognized for its donation of soft drinks sold at the Lions food booth at the Industry Hills Pro Rodeo Oct. 12-14 at the Industry Hills Expo Center. The club raised nearly $2,000 at the event, which will benefit local charities.
